Descendants of Hendrick Jans Van Sutphen

HENDRICK JANS VAN SUTPHEN was a brother of Dirck Janse Van Sutphen.[1].  Nothing is known for certain about his family, if he had one.  However, based on the earlier analysis of the family of Dirck Janse Van Sutphen in the earlier posts, “Grandsons Named John of Dirck Janszen Van Sutphen and Elizabeth Jans” and “Notes on the Descendants of Dirck Janszen Van Sutphen and Elizabeth Jans, Hendrick probably had at least one son, as described below.

1.  HENDRICK JANS2 VAN SUTPHEN  (JAN HENDRICKS1 WESSELING) was born Abt. 1653.

2.  JAN3 SUTPHEN (HENDRICK JANS2 VAN SUTPHEN, JAN HENDRICKS1 WESSELING) was born Abt. 1693, and died Aft. 1744.  He married CATHERINE LONGSTREET, daughter of STOFFEL LONGSTREET and MOIKA LANE.  She was born Abt. 1700, and died Aft. 1751.

JAN SUTPHEN and JAN SUTPHEN, Jr. (possibly the same person) are mentioned several times in land records for Monmouth County NJ.

He was recorded as Jan Sutphen, Jr. for the baptisms of 3 of his 5 children.

Jan Sutphen, Jr. was witness for David, s/o Jacob Sutphen and Annetje Bennet on 16 Jul 1732.

Jan Sutphen, Jr. was witness with Christina Jansen of the baptism of Aaron, s/o Jan Longstreet and Annetje Couwenhoven on 17 Jul 1737.

Jan Zutveen and Cathrina Langstraat were witnesses for Antje, d/o Gerrit Laan and Mayke Zutveen on 2 Jun 1744 at DRC of Freehold.  GMNJ vol. 25, p. 42.

He is probably the Christopher who was in Loudoun Co, Va by 1774, when he was a witness the codicil to Richard Hall's will.
